Acne is a Serious Skin Care Problem

Treating a serious skin care problem such as acne can take months, sometimes years to eliminate. Experts believe that hormones play a vital role in producing acne and this is why it commonly occurs in teenagers. Diet can assist to a degree, but hormone imbalance is harder to control. If acne is treated it can prevent permanent scarring, but if left unattended serious damage to the skin can result. Acne is unattractive and it can be very irritating to deal with as well as being persistent.

If you have a mild case of acne there are over the counter products available such as cleansers and acne creams that can be effective. If you have a serious acne skin care problem you might want to consult your doctor and he may prescribe some stronger acne medications. If you have pimples that won’t go away or you appear to have cysts that seem to be inflamed you should consult with your doctor in order to get involved in a treatment program to avoid permanent skin damage.

If your acne is not a serious skin care problem you can apply over the counter products. These products applied to the affected areas have the ability to remove the oil and eliminate the bacteria. Other products can remove the dead skin cells, so as to keep the skin free of excess impurities. Products you purchase over the counter without a prescription are typically mild and contain useful active ingredients such as benzyl peroxide, resorcinol, sulfur, lactic acid or salicylic acid.

Products that contain derivatives of vitamin A such as tretinoin and adapalene are put on topically. They are effective at causing cell turnover and they are also effective at stopping your hair follicles from becoming blocked.

Topical varieties of antibiotics have been useful regarding the treatment of acne problems by eliminating skin bacteria. If you have a serious acne skin care problem oral antibiotics that require a prescription might be utilized to decrease the amount of bacteria and reduce inflammation. Doctors usually suggest taking a prescribed antibiotic and using prescribed topical creams

Deep Cysts

If you have a serious skin care problem such as deep cysts your doctor might recommend that you take Isotretinoin which is considered to be a powerful type of medication. It can be useful for preventing scarring, and is sometimes used when other types of medications and treatments have not been effective.

As with any prescribed medication whether it be taken orally or applied topically, your doctor will closely monitor your progress. Some prescribed medications for acne have serious side affects, so they will not be prescribed lightly. As always if you have serious skin care problem consult your doctor.
